Tracee Hamilton was born and raised in Kansas and graduated from the University of Kansas in 1983. She spent almost 10 years at the Detroit Free Press, starting on the copy desk. She helped cover the Pistons for a season and then came back to the office as a layout editor and designer, working up to the role of Deputy Sports Editor. She joined the News-Journal in Wilmington, Del., in 1992 as the sports editor, one of the first women to hold that role on a metropolitan daily. A year later she joined The Post, where she's held a variety of jobs in the Sports section over the past 25 years.
