The county does not pick up trash curbside from residents. Drop-off sites are in Catlett, Markham, Marshall, Morrisville, New Baltimore and Remington (recycling only) and at the county landfill. The landfill also offers free mulch.
The county recycles clear glass, green glass and brown glass; plastic bottles No. 1 and No. 2; fluorescent light bulbs; propane tanks; items with freon; tires; newspapers; cardboard; mixed office paper; magazines and catalogues; aluminum and bimetal cans; scrap metal; motor oil, antifreeze and auto batteries; yard waste; textiles (clothes); and household hazardous waste such as paints and garden products.

The Fauquier County landfill accepts commercial and residential waste and recyclables, including newspaper, antifreeze, automobile batteries, scrap metal, glass, cans, used motor oil, newspaper, corrugated cardboard, office paper, magazines/catalogs, tires (for a fee), telephone books, yard waste, plastic and textiles.
